You know that long distance relationship with your partner that’s tolerable when you’re 3,000 miles away but down right unbearable when you both live in the same city?
I present to you Tracy McGrady and the Houston Rockets.
Both sides were able to tolerate each other while McGrady was sidelined (again) with a knee injury, but after just six games, the honeymoon is over.
McGrady has left the team (ie: pulled an A.I.) and wants the Rockets to work on a trade.
When did leaving your teammates become acceptable behavior in the NBA?
His $23 million expiring contract will be off the books for Houston at the end of the year, so General Manager Daryl Morey is in no rush to discuss a buyout.
And since McGrady didn’t show much in the limited action he did see with the Rockets, I’m not sure how many NBA teams are beating on the door to trade for the often-injured forward.
(He’s been out so often, we couldn’t even find a photo of him in action.)
Yao Ming hasn’t been much better in terms of staying healthy, but he seems to get a pass from the fans because he says all the right things and is a likable guy.
Enjoy the rest of the year off stealing a check, T-Mac.
